Aston Martin Unveils 217mph Valhalla Spider Supercar - supercar performance
The Valhalla Spider shares the 1,079hp powertrain of its coupe counterpart.

Aston Martin has unveiled the Valhalla Spider, an open-top version of its mid-engined supercar. The model will debut at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas and is set to arrive in 2027. This marks a significant expansion of the Valhalla lineup, offering enthusiasts an open-air driving experience without compromising performance.

The Valhalla Spider shares the 1,079hp powertrain of its coupe counterpart. It combines three electric motors with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine. This plug-in hybrid setup ensures the Spider delivers both efficiency and raw power, maintaining Aston Martin’s commitment to cutting-edge technology.

Performance and Design

The Spider reaches an electronically limited top speed of 217mph, matching the coupe’s performance. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds. Notably, the Spider achieves this top speed even without its roof in place, making it the fastest open-cockpit production Aston Martin to date. With the roof installed, the top speed is limited to 124mph, though an optional carbon fibre hardtop allows for the full 217mph maximum.

The car features a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and upwards-opening dihedral doors. Its weight is 1,680kg, a 25kg increase over the coupe, due to a stowable fabric roof. This lightweight roof is designed for convenience, allowing drivers to adapt quickly to changing weather conditions without sacrificing performance.

Engineering and Features

The Valhalla Spider was developed with input from Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT), the consulting arm of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team. AMPT’s expertise ensured the Spider’s aerodynamics and design were refined to match the coupe’s speed, resulting in a vehicle that generates over 600kg of downforce.

A new wind deflector improves airflow when the roof is removed. This directs airflow from the windscreen over the cockpit, channelling it into a 35mm taller snorkel that feeds the engine. The car also features revised electronic stability control and active aerodynamics to compensate for the absence of a fixed roof.

Standard carbon fibre ‘Touring’ seats enhance comfort and ease of access with the roof in place. Buyers can opt for the coupe’s carbon fibre bucket seats for a more track-focused experience.

Launch and Expectations

Aston Martin expects the Spider to account for one-in-four of the 999 planned Valhallas. First deliveries are scheduled for the third quarter of 2027. With its blend of performance, luxury, and open-air driving, the Valhalla Spider is poised to become a standout in Aston Martin’s lineup.
