Ford Ranger has topped Australian sales charts for more than a decade, with over 650,000 units sold since 2010 and nearly 88 percent of those being four-wheel-drive models.
Ranger sales and used-car market
In the used-vehicle segment, the Ranger leads the list of best-selling cars this year, with more than 2,500 listings on Drive Cars for Sale and about 33 percent of them being 2025 or 2026 models that are essentially brand-new. The high share of recent model years reflects strong demand for fresh-look trucks that still carry factory warranties.
Buyers typically scrutinise mileage, and a sample of 2,752 advertised Rangers shows an average of 18,511 km per year. That translates to roughly 18,000 km on a 2025 model and about 185,000 km on a ten-year-old 2016 unit, indicating how quickly owners tend to put the vehicle to work.
The figure exceeds the national average of 15,000 km per year by roughly 23 percent, a gap that reflects the vehicle’s utility-oriented use.
Mileage patterns across model years
New-generation trucks introduced in 2022 show the highest odometer readings. Data indicate average totals of just over 71,000 km for 2023 models and 97,000 km for 2022 units.

These numbers imply about 24,000 km per year, 30 percent above the overall sample average, suggesting that newer owners tend to drive the vehicle more intensively.
Late-generation PXIII variants (2019-2022) also run higher than older cars, with annual averages ranging from 19,000 km for 2019 models to 21,000 km for 2021.
Older PK-generation trucks (2010-2011) fall below 16,000 km per year, while early PXI and PXII versions stay under the 18,500 km benchmark.
A breakdown by age and generation shows the following averages: a one-year-old 2025 Ranger carries about 10,043 km; a two-year-old 2024 model averages 41,708 km; three-year-old 2023 units sit near 71,376 km; four-year-old 2022 trucks record roughly 97,325 km.
Guidance for used-car shoppers
Since most listings are under five years old, aiming for a Ranger that logs around 22,000 km per year, or less, places a buyer near the lower end of current market mileage.
